Skinner's Last Hole Heroics Help Earn Yamaha Georgia Senior Open Title

Skinner Defeats Stevens by One Stroke

The 30th Yamaha Georgia Senior Open contested at the Newnan Country Club saw PGA teaching professional Sonny Skinner of River Pointe Golf Club, post a three-under par 69 for a two-day total 136 to capture the championship by one shot over fellow PGA professional Craig Stevens. With the victory, Skinner took home the $1,500 first place check.

New for 2012, Welcome to Golf Month uses PGA Free Lesson Month as its foundation of the program to create a welcoming atmosphere to encourage new players to try golf during May.  Facilities may offer Get Golf Ready, introductory programs and clinics, Welcome to Golf Days and Bring a Friend activities and invite golfers of all abilities (beginner through avid) for fun and to make it easier to stay in the game.

By registering, your programs will be listed within the Welcome to Golf Month search on PlayGolfAmerica.com. In addition, PGA members can earn 4 MSR credits for hosting and providing post-event results to The PGA.

Daryl Batey Selected as PGA Player Development Regional Manager

PGA of America Creates New Positions in the Field to Help Grow the Game

As a major component of the industry-wide Golf 2.0 initiative to grow participation in the game, The PGA of America has indentified nine PGA Player Development Regional Managers in strategic markets across the country. The new Regional Managers are charged with implementing strategies, initiatives and programs to expand the reach of golf amongst current and potential players. Daryl Batey, PGA of Lilburn, GA has been chosen to serve the Atlanta region.
